Last chance for early bird sale!
June courses update – early bird specials ending soon
Covid-19 has taught us a great deal about what is valuable in life. Life is short so focus on your authentic self, enhance your creative spirit, and do anything you can to achieve your dreams.
Along with love and friendship, there is very little else in life that is truly worth having.
It has always been our dream to help you achieve your dreams. We believe it’s never been more important – to the world, and to all of us as individuals.
So here’s how we hope to help you through the dark times and out into the light.
Creative Writing Course
On 1 June, we’re offering three versions of our flagship Creative Writing Course – to suit all your needs. Designed to be the only writing course you’ll ever need, it offers all the skills you need to write a book – fiction or creative non-fiction, and will get you writing confidently in scenes.
Sign up and pay for any of these three before mid-May, and you’ll qualify for a generous early-bird discount.
As Caroline, one of our recent participants, said: “Everyone who wants to write a book should do this course.
“I know people have written books without your help before, but this just short-circuits the difficult process of learning from one’s own mistakes.”
Online Creative Writing Course
Join a global group of writers to learn all you’ll ever need to write a book – fiction or creative non-fiction. This is a truly comprehensive course – designed to give you both the skills and the confidence to tackle the book you’ve been yearning to write.
It’s a lively and interactive course, with live webinars, links and clips, and feedback twice in every module – to make certain this will not be a solitary learning experience.
A new module is released each week for ten weeks, filled with information, exercises and an assignment to entrench the skills learnt. Enroll here!
Or upgrade to our new virtual face-to-face Creative Writing Course
Imagine you were learning face-to-face, but in the comfort and safety of your home.
Do you doubt your ability to maintain the discipline for an online course? This way, you can upgrade – and learn in real-time from a tutor you can engage with. This is our famous flagship course, offered with discussion, chat, and feedback – and notes to keep afterwards.
All we can’t provide is the glass of wine. You’ll have to pour your own.
Richard will offer this course through video conferencing each Monday and Thursday evening for five weeks. Numbers will be extremely limited so that each person will receive attention and feedback in every class.
All you need is a reliable internet connection. We’ll set you up, don’t worry. You don’t have to be technically minded. You can sign up here.
Cape Town virtual face-to-face Creative Writing Course
Jo-Anne will offer her now-famous face-to-face Creative Writing Course as usual from 1 June.
At this stage, it looks unlikely restrictions will allow us to offer it in our Plumstead venue, but she will teach this course to Capetonians every Monday and Thursday evening – through video conferencing.
You will still learn in real time from a tutor you can engage with. There will still be discussion, chat, and feedback – and notes to keep afterwards.
And don’t worry, we can easily set you up, no matter how technophobic you think you are. We’ll patiently talk you through it. All you need is a reliable internet connection.
If at any stage restrictions allow us to meet in small groups, our teaching venue will be thoroughly disinfected after each use, and no-one will be permitted entry without first sanitising.
Whatever happens, we will hold a get-together as soon as it is deemed safe to do so, to maintain the close connections we will have formed during the course. You can book your spot here.
Virtual Writing Weekend: How to put together a story
In place of our annual Stow-on-the-Wold writing weekend from 26 to 28 June, we have introduced an online weekend course from which participants will emerge with the first draft of a short story.
We’ll run you through the process of developing story, from the initial impulse – that virus of an idea, through the building both of characters and the world of the story, to the step-by-step raising of the stakes towards the satisfying crunch of a resolution.
All in the space of just two days – mixing theory with furious creation, with full feedback from two experienced writing facilitators.

Stay safe and keep writing,
Jo-Anne and the All About Writing team
