But before the month even begins, we’ve scheduled a free screenwriting webinar run by Michele Rowe and Richard Beynon, two of South Africa’s most experienced screen- and scriptwriters
July kicks off with our intensive five-week Screenwriting Crash Course and a Memoir Writing Workshop with Joanne Hichens. Finally, the month ends with a nonfiction writing masterclass offered by our in-house nonfiction specialist, Fred de Vries (who also launches his latest book, Blues for the White Man, this month).

Deadline 31 July: June/July Flash Fiction Challenge
All About Writing’s latest writing challenge offers the winner a literary assessment on 5000 words of writing worth R 2750 / £ 150 or a voucher to the same value to use on one of our courses or programmes.
Write a character-driven scene in which your character discovers something absolutely cataclysmic about their partner – or their child. Their reaction, and how much of that reaction they let their companion see, should show us a great deal about their personality – and suggest the direction of the story to come.
Write no more than 250 words. Submit your entry by midnight on 31 July 2021. It’s free to enter!
